Since its formation, the International Society of Blood Purification (ISBP) has been playing a very active role in the development of organ failure therapy in the World. The first Congress was held in 1983 but was then called the International Society of Hemofiltration. In 1986 the Society received its current name and covered Extracorporeal and Peritoneal treatment modalities of acute and terminal organ failure. ISBP has been held mainly in Europe, North America, Japan and China. The 37th Congress of International Society will be held in Hyderabad, India from 18-21 September 2019. The economic development in India is remarkable, and along with this, the field of blood purification is widely deployed not only PD but also HD & HDF. Although its development is still limited, India currently has one of the largest population of renal failure patients, and interest in blood purification therapies is growing rapidly in India.
I believe that this Congress will help further develop of blood purification therapy not only in India but also in other parts of the region. This meeting is also a good platform for Indian nephrologists and nurses to come together to share their experiences and build friendships with the International community.
Looking forward to seeing and sharing with you in Hyderabad.
